» Annual Memorial Day Observance

adronia Cemetery is the final resting place for over a thousand veterans with service dating back to the Civil War. Each year since 1928, the Saratoga Foothill Club has hosted a Memorial Day Service commemorating the military service of these veterans. Community organizations including 4-H club members, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire girls and local churches participate in the ceremony placing laurel sprays and American flags on the veteran’s graves.

The ceremony begins with flag raising at the Memorial Arch in Blaney Plaza at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Big Basin Way in Saratoga. The participants then walk up Oak Street to Madronia Cemetery. The program at the cemetery starts at 10:00am with community speakers and music provided by local school groups.
